Prepare in advance!

It's much easier to draw sprites and tiles at your leisure before the game, than to try to draw each in 30 seconds.

Controller's Role

One perspective on the controller's role is that they should try hard not to break character: "It's like working in a Renaissance Faire -- the customers can do what they want, but you must remain true to your character."

Another take on the game could have the controller playing without a strict narrative or with characters with fluid personalities.

Michael Abbot suggests controlling SiD as if it were improvisational theatre, including being flexible with your players and always embracing the unexpected, as you never know the creative directions it might take your story.

Narrator

One method of narrating a story is to create an invisible object (turn its fade all the way down) and have it speak. Hit the Square button next to dialog tool to draw a word bubble as a square.
