Sharing Game Resources

Game resources can be shared as .pak files.

Exporting .pak files

In order to package an object, you must first place it into a scene (a blank scene will do). Once the object is placed you must then save the scene, and then click the 'Add scene to resource pack' button (File:Addtopak.jpg) located above the scene browser. If the scene is not saved first using the save button then the resource file will be blank. Clicking the 'Add scene to resource pack' button will add the scene, and all of the objects contained within it, to an open package. Once you have added your scene you must then click the 'Save the accumulated resource pack' button (File:Closepak.jpg). This will close the package and save it into your resourcePacks folder (located in the Sleep Is Death directory) under the format "#.pak".

Importing .pak files

1) Place the .pak files you would like to import into the "loadingBay" folder in your game's root directory and then restart the game.

2) Wait for the 'Loading...' screen to pass.

3) The resources have now been added to your Resource Cache and no longer need to be in your loading bay. Remove all .pak files from your loading bay. (To be sure the process is complete there should be a copy of the .pak with the same name but the file type is .done)

If you leave the files in there each time you start Sleep is Death it will try to import the .pak again and take longer at the initial load screen.

Downloading and Uploading .pak files

sidtube.com now has a resources page where you can upload your own .pak files and download those of others.

Sharing Flipbooks

After finishing a story (press esc and then y to exit) a "flipbook" of each move will be saved to the flipbook sub-folder in the Sleep is Death folder. A flipbook is currently only saved for the player, the controller will not receive a copy unless they are able to contact the player.

Flipbooks can be shared by creating a .zip-archive of them and then sending those privately to the recipient or uploading them to the sidtube gallery.
